The project is located on 60 acres in the northeastern section of a major city in the northeast United States – right on the border to the neighboring counties.  The project is being developed by a partnership between the land owner (a non-profit health system) and a for-profit developer.  The non-profit owns a life care community on an adjacent property.  The proximity of the life care community will help residents of the active retirement project age in place.

The project has been designed and approved for over 1000 living units for active lifestyle community.  If offers a range of living units that vary in size as well as purchase option.  The community is located on the edge of the city and the counties and in the midst of the city park system.  This openness in the city is unique and provides the opportunity to maintain open space and natural landscaping.  The residents will enjoy walking trails, gardens and wildlife while still benefiting from a “center city” address.

The Village Center will provide an opportunity for residents to meet for activities, visit the fitness center, pick-up breakfast at the “takery” or “hang out” in the computer/library/resource center.

This project won the 2004 Seniors Housing Design Awards for Innovation by the NAHB Seniors Housing Council.
